Hi, I am from Bulgaria, I need ACLS for my future job as medical doctor at cruise ships. Where I can get this certification in Bulgaria or what is your advice if this is not possible? Thank you!

    • Jeff with admin. says

I would recommend that you complete the online portion of the AHA ACLS Certification and then find a local provider who can perform the AHA ACLS Skills station (Part 2) with you. There are several countries around Bulgaria which offer AHA ACLS classes, certification and skills station checkoff. Global AHA Connector.

Another option would be to contact the cruise ship and find out if they have any options for you to get Part 2 of the AHA ACLS certification skills station. Another option would be to speak with the AHA Europe rep.

I have listed the link to the AHA Part 1 here:
      AHA ACLS Part 1

      Kind regards,
      Jeff

    Hi Jeff!

I’m taking ACLS course for the first time and I am curious about a few technical things, which I couldn’t find an definite answer after looking through the AHA course info.

First: Is there a time limit for finishing AHA ACLS HeartCode part 1 written exam online?

Second: Are there any more written tests included in ACLS part 2 and 3 (the skills practice and testing sessions) after passing the ACLS HeartCode Part 1?

Third (sorry for so many questions..): Are Stroke and ACS algorithms tested in parts 2 and 3 of the course or is it all about the arrhythmia/cardiac arrest algorithms?

Thank you for your help and hosting this amazing site! It’s been very helpful especially for simplifying the AHA provider manual.

      Question #1:
I do not think that there is a time limit. The time restriction would be when you are completing the certification and how long it takes you to complete the online part #1.

      Question #2:
No, after you pass the online written exam, there are no more written tests.

      Question #3:
In my experience, the ACS and Stroke algorithm are not tested in the skills station. The skills station in my experience is comprised of a hands on testing of the Cardiac Arrest Algorithm, Tachycardia Algorithm, and Bradycardia Algorithm. There are written exam questions for ACS and Stroke Algorithm.

I hope this answers your questions.

      Kind regards,
      Jeff

This website can be used to train and prepare you for AHA ACLS certification. After your training and preparation, you can complete AHA ACLS certification. There is not any way to complete AHA ACLS certification 100% online. Here is where you can learn how to get AHA ACLS certification

      Kind regards,
      Jeff

Hi. I’m having a hard time looking for an ACLS and BLS training course here in London which is AHA recognized. It’s one of my requirement for employment in the United States. Any idea?

I have severe bilateral wrist pains caused by SLAC (ScaphoLunate Advanced Collapse) and am unable to press with my wrists extended as required for chest compressions. Is there a way for me to certify for ACLS?

    • Jeff with admin. says

There are several roles within ACLS that you could perform even with your disability. You will need to check with your local provider and see if they will certify you without actually performing chest compressions. Some providers may do this if you explain the situation.

      Kind regards,
      Jeff

Hi Jeff! Despite my never being able to obtain a passing score on the pre-test, took a 1 day course in Portland and passed! This was after sitting through a “free” refresher at my hospital, not passing the written test, then taking a paid course through my local community college. I never stops amazing me the difference in how the material is presented. The first refresher consisted of a retired nurse just flashing the AHA power point slides, a short BLS piece and a mega code with Sim Man. I was asked to lead the first code and had never used a Life Pack, needless to say, was a complete disaster.

I took the second class at Portland’s CLIMB Center which I think is a professional education branch of their local community college. Same material presented, instructors were more engaged, funny. The mega codes were even fun. I did pass both the written and the skills and your website helped a lot in the prep.

For the next time, I anticipate with my crazy schedule that I will need to review this for at least a month prior to (unless unfortunately I “own” the algorithms by direct experience). Thanks again for your good website and I assume it will have a lot more newer material after the 2015 revisions come out.

AHA Advanced cardiac life support certification can be taken by anyone. Background and experience are not required, but the course is challenging and you will need to study and prepare for the certification.

      Kind regards,
      Jeff

I am a recent graduate with an RN degree. I do not yet have a job but am looking to get my ACLS certification. I can not find on the AHA website requirements for ACLS. Am I eligible to take the course and get certification even though I am not currently working anywhere?

This is a very helpful website! I absolutely love it. You both have done a fantastic job! It gets down to the bottom line clearly and quickly. It allows you to go between areas in a second, to reinforce something you may need help with. I cannot tell you how impressed I am. I have been an RN for 42 years, worked ICU/CCU and many other areas. I can say that this is such a benefit to all. I am still working and will recertify tomorrow am, I plan on sharing this site with many fellow healthcare workers. Thank you so much for providing all of us with this website. Kathy Brooks
