The most recent publication of the American Heart Association ACLS provider manual was the 2015 publication.

A new publication will be produced around April 2021 and until that time the 2015 publication is the most up-to-date version.

There are no provider manuals for sale on the website.

      Kind regards,
      Jeff

I am required to have both PALS and ACLS certification. I understand there is a pretest online followed by skills testing. I have 6 months to obtain both or that’s it. where do I begin? I read over some books from other people and my heart sank. Is it possible to study and memorize for both tests within 6 months time?

    • ACLS says

It is possible for you to prepare for both of these exams and do quite well within the six-month timeframe. This website is designed to help people overcome the problem of memorization and uses a set of training tools to help ingrain the algorithms and make learning ACLS & PALS simple. If you use this website to prepare for these two certifications you will be fully prepared and you will do better than most in your class.

I do offer a 100% moneyback guarantee if for any reason you’re not satisfied.

      Kind regards,
      Jeff

Hi… love your program. Just wondering if its accrediated?
Or if you are able to assign continuing Education (CE) RN hours for taking it?
    If so, how many?
    Thanks!

    • ACLS says

The course is accredited for 8 nursing CEs through the California state board of nursing. These continuing education hours are accepted by any state board of nursing.

The course is also accredited by the American medical Association and is also good for 8 category 1 credits.

To receive these, you will need to complete the interactive course guide here:

AHA allows for the written exam to be completed with any resource material that you would like to use. It is an open resource exam. That said, many people find that they take to long on the test because they spend so much time hunting for the answers in the book. Make sure you know your stuff before going to class. Kind regards, Jeff

    • ACLS says

Depending on your experience level, it should take you approximately 6-8 hours to complete the entire ACLS interactive course guide.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

During my experiences with Code Blues and my recent ACLS certification- the person on the bag mask (no advanced airway in place) was just squeezing every 5-6 seconds and the chest compressions wer continuous for two minutes without pausing for two breaths. Is this practice acceptable or is it wrong?

    • Jeff with admin. says

This is an incorrect method for delivering CPR and deviates from the American heart Association guidelines. High-quality CPR requires that the ventilations allow for full chest rise and fall. For the patient that is non-intubated The ratio of chest compressions to deletions should be 30:2. 30 compressions followed by 2 ventilations.

Once an advanced airway is in place, pauses do not need to take place. Deliver one breath every 5 to 6 seconds and compress and a rate of 100-120 per minute.

      Kind regards,
      Jeff

    Jeff,
My ACLS and BLS expired 3 months ago. Do I have to get certified all over again or am I able to be recertified. Also, do I have to take BLS separate from ACLS or can it be done together. Thanks.

    • Jeff with admin. says

This really depends upon the policy of your facility. You need to check with the education department or whoever is in charge of education and find out whether they will except the one day course recertification since the ACLS is expired.

American Heart Association does not make a policy regarding this, but leaves it up to the individual facilities. I have seen this go both ways so you’ll just need to check with your local facility.

      Kind regards,
      Jeff

When I logged in there is always a home screen(it’s like a toll bar) blocking parts of the contents of the page which I’m reading, this home screen contains a menu of this website and a menu for PALS course , and Ideally couldn’t get rid of it.it.

    • Jeff with admin. says

Are you using a laptop, desktop, or mobile device.

      Please provide the model.

Also, what browser are you using?

I need to know these things before I can help solve this problem.

      Kind regards,
      Jeff

Thank you so much Jeff, I have found this site extremely useful and also appreciate all feedbacks – they help solidify my understanding. I was wondering if there is a video or picture of a defibrillator/pacing/cardiovert machine that is most commonly used that is available online. I would like to familiarize myself with how it works. Thanks again for this marvelous site!

    * I am a registered user but was unable to submit this question after one of the interactive reviews.

    • Jeff with admin. says

I’m so glad that you have found the site helpful in your preparation for advanced cardiac life support.

There are many different models and types of defibrillators and so each one may have slight variation. Here is a basic video that shows how to use a defibrillator.

Some of the pages within the interactive course guide do not have a comment area. For all of the pages that contain learning content you should be able to find a comment section.

This website is strictly for training purposes to help prepare healthcare providers for the AHA ACLS Provider course, exam, and skills station. You need to go through a local provider to take this. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Kind regards, Jeff
