I just took my first ACLS today and passed with 94%! Yay! Thanks for your prompt response to my questions I only found your site a few days before my exam! You do an excellent job of explaining things. The only ones I missed were silly ones like, “if the O2 sat drops to 84%, do you check the O2 sensor or add supplemental oxygen first?” (Answer is add O2) in real life I always look to make sure the sensor is still on the finger first. But all the true ACLS stuff I got right!!! And feel so much more confident in my job of something goes wrong!

In a cardiac arrest patient is it important to give epi first or dextrose if pt. hypoglycemic?
Jeff with admin. says

I wished you left 2010-2015 on your website at least for a couples weeks. There are many respiratory students will be testing on old version till their semester will be finished at the beginning of may.
Jeff with admin. says
This was a hard decision to make on when to take down all of the information on the old guidelines. I do apologize for this. I did leave up the 2010-2015 guideline changes test and also the 2010-2015 Guideline changes Video each of these can be found on their site in their respective departments in the left navigation or by clicking the links above.
Kind regards,
Jeff

I work in a L&D unit,so fortunately we OB nurses do not have to use ACLS much at all. Every 2 years when my ACLS recert approaches, I am a bundle of nerves. I discovered your site 2 years ago and it so helped me, that now I feel loads more confidence this year, as my ACLs approaches. I recommended your site to all the girls I work with and they are so grateful and all use it before their ACLS recert. Thank you so much. it is worth every cent that I paid.
Jeff with admin. says
I’m so glad that the site has been helpful for you. Thank you so much for recommending the site to others. Kind regards, Jeff

On Q6, I answered correct, “start CPR after providing shock with an AED, but what if the use of AED converted the rhythm to sinus?
Jeff with admin. says
No matter what happens to the rhythm after a shock, you will always provide 2 minutes of high quality CPR. This is because after conversion, it takes time for the heart to pump efficiently and it take time for cardiac perfusion to improve.
After a shock ALWAYS IMMEDIATELY give 2 minutes of high quality CPR.
Kind regards,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
New member here.
I am looking at a AHA book. It says with an ADVANCED airway in place breaths are 8-10 per min.
You site’s test question says 6-8 W/ advanced airway.
Can you research and post which is correct. Thanks,
Julie Haggerty
Jeff with admin. says
Under the 2010 AHA guidelines which it appears was the quiz you were taking, the answer to this question is. With an advanced airway in place you can deliver 1 breath every 6-8 seconds (8-10 breaths per minute). I believe that you may have been looking at the delivery of breaths for respiratory arrest and not cardiac arrest. Kind regards, Jeff

Excellent!! Best way of reviewing for acls test!!!!

Are you going to update for 2015 guidelines?
The 6-8 has been replaced by 6 sec or 10/mim
Love this site
Brenda
Jeff with admin. says
Yes the site will be updated to the 2015-2020 AHA ACLS Guidelines. The 2015-2020 AHA Guidelines will be released when the new AHA ACLS provider manuals are released for public purchase. This should occur between March-April 2016. At the time of their public release, these guidelines take effect, and all content on this site will but updated to reflect the changes taking place.
Kind regards,
Jeff
wgaus says
So I am confused – I will be taking recertification test in Feb. 2016. Does that mean that I should answer according to the 2010 or the 2016 rules?
Jeff with admin. says
You will be tested on the 2010-2015 Guidelines because the new provider manual has not been released for public sale yet. Implementation of the new guidelines will not take effect until some time around Late March or early April of this year.
Everything on this site reflects the correct information that you will be tested on at this time.
Kind regards,
Jeff
