a nice website.just give some more basic questions in this site.
Kylie says
I don’t agree with this answer. We have always been taught that the earlier compressions begin the better the outcome.
emma says
Your right my 2010 handbook of Emergency CPR for Healthcare providers by AHA says so!
Jeff with admin. says
Question #9 is not an attempt to belittle chest compressions. The question reads: “The most important intervention with witnessed sudden cardiac arrest is:”
For WITNESSED sudden cardiac arrest, the earlier the defibrillation occurs, the higher the survival rate. For WITNESSED sudden cardiac arrest defibrillation trumps chest compressions. See: AHA ACLS manual pg. 54.
Kind regards,
Jeff
Jane says
Duh, really? Early “anything” in CPR is a part of “high quality CPR”. Yeah, that includes compressions.
Kevin Rezendes says
This is great, I’m only moving through the basics but i’m starting to build some confidence!

This is a Wonderful website. It has been two yrs since I have had ACLS and this is a wonderful review and it is not boring sitting in a class room having it lectured to you. The videos are super!
CAROLCMOORE01@AOL.COM says
I thougth you always eval. your intervention
Vicki says
My question is when do you actually check a pulse during the course of resuscitation? When there is an organized rithym? After your cycles of shock and 2 minutes cpr ?
Jeff with admin. says
Shock, then perform 2 minutes of CPR. After the 2 min. of CPR stop compressions and look at the monitor. If you see an organized rhythm, you will perform a pulse check (no more than 10 seconds).
Kind regards,
Jeff

I agree with kerri…you truly have a way of teaching. even exhausted as I am, the repitition, clear cut questions, answers, rationales, the ability to check my answers ONE at a time before moving on …(just to name a few), is MOST helpful.
jleesee says
I just took my mandated ACLS course certification=I wish I would have known about this course=the practice of MEGA codes is extremely helpful along with the practice questions=Very Very informative and helpful
Brittni Harwell says
Lee..I questioned the same thing..but after reading rationale it made since..
Brittni Harwell says
If the rythm is a heart block with no pulse do you use the same steps as VT or VF???
Jeff with admin. says
You would use the algorithm for PEA (pulseless electrical activity) which is the right branch of the pulseless arrest algorithm. Any rhythm that has an ECG tracing but no pulse is treated as PEA. This is except for pulseless VT and VF which would be treated with the left branch of the pulseless arrest algorithm.
Kind regards,
Jeff
