Loved this ACLS course. I only had a few days to learn it and take megacode and test. I passed with an “A”. I will definitely use this site for testing in the future.

    Hi,
Is there an “easy” way to print out the rhythms? I want to compare them side by side to help distinguish better.

    thanks.
    Gina

I don’t have an easy way to print the rhythms out side by side at this time, but this is a good idea. I will try and put together a PDF with the rhythms all together by rhythm type. I’m sorry that I don’t have anything like this at the moment.

      Kind regards,
      Jeff

I’m not sure what is going on with PayPal. I have not had any other complaints from customers about payment issues. I have checked the communication between the site and PayPal and everything seems to be functioning smoothly.

If you would like some assistance, you can call the technical support line 316-243-7096

was taking the test and when I clicked on the box in the lower rt hand box the check became frozen . what should one do when this happens?

I just took ACLS & BLS. I Only missed one question! This site is amazing! I understand it all more now than I ever have! ( cert for 15 yrs now) Thank u! Please start a review on pals next!!!!!

    • Jeff with admin. says

There are two purposes of the “review question” button and yellow box feature. The first is for those who skip over questions and want to go back and answer them later. This allows you to see which ones you have reviewed before you answer. The second is if you review your answers and want to quickly be able to see which ones you have looked at, you can press the review question button and it will make the box yellow so that you can see that you have reviewed the question.

      Kind regards,
      Jeff

On the H and T’s; why is hypoglycemia and trauma crossed out?
We are still using 2010 guidelines right?
Thanks so much for your time and expertise! This website is so user friendly!

    • Jeff with admin. says

AHA has removed these from the H and T’s for the following reasons:

      1. Trauma now has it own specific treatment recommendations within AHA ACLS protocol under special resuscitation situations.
      2. Hypoglycemia was removed because the blood glucose check is now a routine standard that is expected to be done with any changes in level of consciousness. It is still very important and should not be neglected.
      3. We are still using the 2010 guidelines. The new guideline changes will take affect some time around April or May 2016.

Thanks for the encouragement and feedback.
      Kind regards,
      Jeff

Is the Amiodarone infusion a choice of 150 over 10 min THEN 360 over 6 hrs, THEN 540 mg over 18 hrs, or is it a choice of which one to use?

    • Jeff with admin. says

This is a sequence of Steps.
Step. 1 infuse 150mg over then minutes. Step 2. Then infuse 360mg over 6 hours. Step 3. Then infuse 540mg over 18 hours.
You do all 3 in sequence.

      Kind regards,
      Jeff

DC cardioversion or Direct Current Cardioversion is and electrical shock applied to the chest wall which produces a unidirectional flow or movement of electric charge carriers to the heart. This is also simply called cardioversion and is designed as a means of reversing certain types of heart arrhythmias. The shock to the heart resets the electrical conduction system in the heart. When the electrical conduction system then begins to fire, the impulses are hopefully normal sinus in nature.

When will you have the new 2016 updates available. I need to renew early in 2016 and will need the new guidelines. I don’t want to purchase the 2015 guidelines but would be interested in the 2016 ACLS study guides.
    Thanks,
    Theresa

    • Jeff with admin. says

AHA meets in November 2015 (next month) to work out the new guidelines. These guidelines will be implemented some time in mid 2016 (probably May 2016). As soon as the new guidelines are released all of the content on the site will be updated with this information.

      Kind regards,
      Jeff

Jeff, test on ACLS student web site was much harder, and rhythms were more difficult to interpret. I am doing well on the tests from this web site. I only got a 58% on the precludes assessment test on the student ACLS web site( http://www.heart.org/eccstudent) what are your thoughts?

    • Jeff with admin. says

Do you have the printout with the breakdown from each part of the pre-test assessment. You should have received this after you did the pre-test. If you have this, can you send me a copy so I can look to see where the weaknesses were.

I actually just went through the pre-test to see what all of the rhythms looked like. They seemed fairly straight forward.

I looked at all of your results from the practice tests and Megacode scenarios on the site, and they look very good. I am confident that if you have covered all of the material on the site, this should thoroughly prepare your for certification.

Have you watched all of the videos in the video department?
Have you read through everything in the knowledge base area of the site?

If you would like to call and speak with me, I may be able to give some direction as to how you may be able to further prepare. 316-243-7096.

      Kind regards,
      Jeff

im a little confused on the vfib-pulsless vtach……I always thought during the mega code, after either the brady or tachy rhythm, when you get vfib/or vtach, you start CPR while preparing to shock….in the videos, it states to shock first…..will registry bing you for twiddling your thumbs waiting for the charge.

      • Jeff with admin. says

        Hi Debbie,

Thank you for the question. You asked: “I’m a little confused on the vfib-pulsless vtach……I always thought during the mega code, after either the brady or tachy rhythm, when you get vfib/or vtach, you start CPR while preparing to shock….in the videos, it states to shock first…..will registry bing you for twiddling your thumbs waiting for the charge.”

        Reply:
If you already have a monitor/defibrillator attached then you can immediately defibrillate. I suppose that if you had a five second lag time between charging and defibrillation then you could perform chest compressions. When a rhythm change occurs and it is ventricular fibrillation or pulseless ventricular tachycardia, the most important intervention is rapid defibrillation.

        Kind regards,
        Jeff
