Jeff,
If victim is unresponsive, it was unwitnessed and you are alone and called for help I thought you were to perform 5 cycles cpr then activate EMS? Is there no difference between witnessed or unwitnessed?
ACLS says
This is true for out of hospital cardiac arrest. With in hospital cardiac arrest the emergency services should be activated immediately whether it is witnessed or unwitnessed.
AHA BLS provider manual page 5 “once a primary provider recognizes cardiac arrest, immediate activation of the resuscitation team early high-quality CPR, and rapid defibrillation are essential. On the same page it shows the chain of survival and activation of the code team or emergency services for in hospital arrest is first.”
Kind regards,
Jeff
