Even after being a nurse for twenty years, this is my first attempt at ACLS certification. The interactive ACLS study guide organized my preparation for the pre-test, class, and written test. Passed with 100% on the written exam yesterday. Your explanations in the comments were just as helpful as the study material. Thanks so much for such a great resource!

I’ve never done ACLS in my entire nursing life that started back in ’79. I’ve been away from the bedside for over 15yrs in the IT side of things but have the opportunity to work in a free standing center. I need ACLS certification. I am signed up (2 weeks left) and have read about a Pre-Test I have to bring with me. At what point should I consider taking this pre-test? And If I don’t pass the first round, am I able to do it again?

The pretest can be taken at any time prior to going to class. The pretest will simply give you an idea of your existing knowledge at the time of taking it. You can take it more than once. You might consider taking it before you start using any training and then take it again just before you go to the AHA ACLS course.
The American Heart Association and just wants to get a gauge of your knowledge prior to taking their ACLS course.
Kind regards,
Jeff

if patient’s core temperature during ROSC is between 32-36 degree C, whats the protocol for inducing TTM with cold saline ? Is unresponsiveness the only criteria for TTM?
Jeff with admin. says
Yes, the criteria to begin TTM in the post-cardiac arrest phase is that the patient is unresponsive (comatose). Kind regards, Jeff
