Target Audience
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of health care providers involved in the care of pediatric patients with the need for advance life support.
Statement of Need/Program Overview
To achieve mastery of PALS concepts and skills with minimal stress and anxiety which will lead to improved performance during pediatric emergencies and improve outcomes for pediatric patients during cardiac arrest and other pediatric emergencies.
Educational Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:
- Identify pediatric cardiac arrest and demonstrate/apply appropriate interventions
- Identify pediatric respiratory distress and respiratory failure and demonstrate/apply early management that will improve outcomes and prevent cardiac arrest
- Discuss pediatric post-cardiac arrest care and manage the cardiac arrest patient after ROSC (Return Of Spontaneous Circulation) occurs
- Recall key assessment and interventions for early recognition and management of pediatric shock
- Differentiate between pediatric patients who do and do not require immediate intervention
